In 1986, Richard Ramires’ lawyers compiled a document and presented it to a judge in order to call for a mistrial on the Ramirez case. They felt as though the media coverage of Ramirez in Los Angeles was skewing the jury and giving a negative image of their client. As the story goes, the judge immediately dismissed this document and threw it in the trash. Afterwards, a member of the jury took the document from the trash as a souvenir. Later this document had a small number of copies created and distributed. Never before published in book form, this document is now being shared as a curiosity and lost piece of history from the Richard Ramirez trial. Compiling courtroom transcripts and a collection of newspaper articles presented as evidence for the mistrial case.
