USA Shipping Information
As of August 29th, 2025, the United States has ended de minimis exemption for all shipments. The de minimis exemption has been in place since 1938, and has allowed items valued under US$800 to enter the United States duty free. Removing this exemption unfortunately has massive consequences for any businesses that ship items into the United States. As we are located in Canada, this affects us as well.
As we are not experts in this, and the information is a little difficult to navigate, we will try and explain how this changes affects orders from Cult Collectibles. First, all of our items entering the USA may be subject to a 35% tariff. This fee must be paid by us up front. For example, if you ordered a document valued at US$200, before it can be shipped we may be forced to pay US$70 to border services as a DDP (Delivery Duty Paid) charge. This means that the buyer will not have to pay to duty, but that we must pay the costs up front. A vast majority of our orders are both under US$800, and ship to the USA, this is a very harsh financial blow to the site.
Without getting into the specifics, we are also currently unable to ship items using the provider we have relied on since starting Cult Collectibles. There are details required to be submitted to customs which are not available for the type of items we deal in. We are looking to speak with the provider regarding how to address this issue but there is a very long backlog for the help departments of all shipping providers currently. While there are alternate options, they also involve a lot of work - and have additional costs.
At the moment, we are speaking with other businesses, doing a lot of research, and using trial and error to find the best way to be able to ship orders to the USA and keep costs down. Please be paitent while we work on this, and feel free to contact admin@cultcollectibles.org if you have any questions.
We hope to re-open USA shipping sometime in September, but there is no set date currently.
